چکیده

Methods We performed a prospective observational study with a cohort of 60 septic patients admitted to the ICU. Demographic data, severity scales, organ failure and doses of noradrenalin were registered. TnThs analysis was performed at baseline and in the first 24 hours a transthoracic echocardiography was performed to assess the ejection fraction (Simpson), once a correct resuscitation had been performed. Patients were monitored until hospital discharge. The statistical analysis was aimed to show whether biomarker TnThs acts as an early myocardial dysfunction biomarker in patients with sepsis and if it is an independent determinant factor of myocardial dysfunction. A bivariate analysis was performed using non-parametric tests and multiple logistic regression with the aim of obtaining a model adjusted to severity. Statistical significance if p < 0.05.

Cardiac enzyme in emergency medicine

Objective: Acute chest pain is an important and frequently occurring symptom in patients. Chest pain is often a sign of ischemic heart disease. Chest pain due to suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is responsible for a large and ijncreasing number of hospital attendances and admissions. Current practice for suspected ACS involves troponin testing 10–12 hours after symptom o...

A Comparison of Prognostic Value of the Levels of ProBNP and Troponin T in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)

INTRODUCTION The propeptide of brain natriuretic peptide (ProBNP) is used for the diagnosis of left ventricle dysfunction and heart failure. In patients with an Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) it can contribute to both short and long term prognosis of cardiovascular events that could be very important for management and therapy of these patients. AIM The aim of this study was to evaluate the pr...

High myocardial 18F-FDG uptake after chemotherapy in the presence of left ventricular dysfunction as well as 3-month later with no left ventricular dysfunction

Diffusely increased glucose metabolic activity in the right and left ventricles using 2-deoxy-2-(F-18) fluoro-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDGPET/CT) and global left ventricular hypokinesia at echocardiography can be evident in acute myocarditis. But, there has been no case report that the ventricular 18F-FDGuptake remains unchanged even ...

Volume, Conductivity and Scatter parameters of Neutrophils in Neonatal Sepsis – Is it a Cost-Effective Tool?

Background: Early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis is quite challenging. I/T ratio (immature to mature neutrophil ratio) is a highly sensitive marker of sepsis but is time-consuming and subjective. Off late, volume conductivity and scatter (VCS) of neutrophils are among the newer parameters available for screening a septic neonate. This study aimed to determine the correlation between the I/T ratio...

Lipopolysaccharide Induced Activation of Toll Like Receptor 4 in Isolated Rat Heart Suggests a Local Immune Response in Myocardium

Background: Myocardial dysfunction is one of the major complications in patients with sepsis where there is a relationship between the blood level of cytokines and the onset of myocardial depression. In many cases of sepsis, the presence of Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) has been established. LPS Binding Protein (LBP) bound endotoxin is recognized by CD14/toll-like receptor-4 (TLR4) complexes in inna...
